FEEL IT!

A Pop(-ulistic) Music-Performance

Pop is entertainment, politics is performance, and populism is a show—feelings versus facts. Three performers from Turkey and Germany engage in a dialogue—through striking political speeches, pop songs, and their own words and life stories. This Turkish-German production uses analytical insight to explore patterns and repetitions, the (re)writing of history, and the (ir)revocable facts of German and Turkish history and how each culture portrays the other. With plenty of confetti, we debunk the prejudices and clichés, the rhetorical smoke screens, and the attempts at manipulation—and we do it over and over and over and over again… until the audience believes us!

FEEL IT! explores the mechanisms at work in pop events, political discourse, and populism—and deconstructs them. Beyond the spectacle, however, there remains a longing for a personal and objectively factual exchange. For honest encounters. For conversations that don’t rely on grand gestures. A dialogue that takes its time and accepts that what is spoken represents only a fragmentary picture of thought
… the map is not the territory.
