BROKEN LENZ

oder das scheitern an der komplexität der welt
The world is burning. Yet there is a person who fights, and there is a person who runs – trying to understand, intervene, and change, only to be defeated by their own expectations. What now? Retreat into private life? Into nature? Into oneself?
The new production by Felix Banholzer is a poetic and furious performance inspired by Georg Büchner. broken len(s)z tells the story of a sensitive and intelligent individual who becomes desperate at the state of the world and gradually loses themselves to madness. Following the tragic story of Lenz, motifs from Büchner’s life are explored and enriched with personal experiences and questions.
What can one do when fascism and right-wing currents are spreading everywhere, when neoliberal ideas infiltrate private life, and when videos and posts influence political elections? How can a single human respond? How can one confront the complexity of events – fight or flight?
Before Lenz fled into nature, there was anger. A desire for change. A sense of justice!
broken len(s)z… and so he lived on?
