Motorhane Open Stage
The Motorhane Open Stage project aims to conceive and stage a site-specific performance in Merzifon Motorhane, involving theater groups from Merzifon, Amasya, and Sinop, as well as theater artists from Bridgeworks. With the event planned for October, the Motorhane Cultural Network aims to establish lasting cooperation between regional artists through joint creative processes. Within this framework and with the participation of Bridgeworks, the Motorhane Open Stage project aims to transform the Motorhane building—an old, disused power station—and the surrounding disadvantaged neighborhood into an open stage for performing artists. Theater groups that have not met before will spend a week in this abandoned industrial site together with musicians from the Motorhane Network, interacting with the local community and organizing workshops in which they can experience the space. Through this creative process, they will build relationships with each other and with the place, and develop and stage a performance that uses the entire Motorhane as a stage. The performance will be presented as a public event. The project is being realized in collaboration with MoKA (Motorhane Cultural Network), an initiative of cultural and artistic creators in Merzifon, Bridgeworks, a Berlin/Cologne-based art collective that produces intercultural and interdisciplinary performances, and Urban. koop (Urban Studies Cooperative), which aims to create an interdisciplinary civil society space through urban and public space design.
